Bucket lists. Many people have them, few pursue them. Not this girl. I wasn’t born an athlete (heck I’m as accident prone as they come!) but I aspire to be one. In 2007 I was unhappy with my life  – how I looked, how I felt, how I spent my time – so I decided to change it. I signed up for my first marathon – The Steamtown Marathon. I had barely ran more than a 5k before I started training, but I was determined to get there. I did cross the finish line of that race, it wasn’t pretty, but I did it. That day I didn’t prove to myself that I was a natural-born athlete. However, I did prove that anything is possible if you put your heart into it. Since that day I’ve taken on many other endurance events from the Goofy Challenge to getting electrocuted in the face to even overcoming my fear of swimming to complete a triathlon. But the finish line is never enough for me, I’m constantly looking for my next challenge. I’ve even taken on helping others conquer their first endurance event by being a coach with Team in Training – an amazing non-profit that benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Just as I push the participants that I coach a little more each day, it’s now time to do the same for myself. On July 23, 2012 I made the commitment to myself to pursue that big bucket list item….. Ironman Lake Placid 2013. I made a vow to myself upon registering to enjoy the remainder of 2012 and that come January 1, 2013 my training focus would be  IMLP. Well here I am on New Years Eve getting the ball rolling! I wanted to blog my journey to IMLP so that I would be able to share my journey with loved ones and strangers! Enjoy!
